Continuing Education Credits
for the DNMS Home Study Course




Obtaining continuing education (CE) credits for the DNMS Home Study Course is optional. The 7-Module Course has been sponsored by PsychoEducational Resources, Inc. (PER) for 20 CE credit hours. To receive CE Certification, participants who purchase the Home Study Course must:

  • take and pass a post-test,
  • complete an evaluation form,
  • provide an attestation statement (verification of completion), and
  • pay a $45 PER fee.

The $45 fee can be paid when the Course is purchased, or when the Certificate of Completion is needed. The post-test, evaluation form, and attestation statement can be completed on-line. Please refer to the PER Sponsorship statements below for specific information about PER's national and state sponsorship approvals.


Psychologists

  • PsychoEducational Resources, Inc. (PER) is approved by the Americam Psychological Association to offer continuing education credits for Psychologists. PER maintains responsibility for the program and its content.
  • To receive the 20 CE credits, Psychologists must have a post-test score of at least 80%.

Social Workers

  • PER is approved as a provider (Provider # 1008) for continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), 400 South Ridge Parkway, Suite B, Culpepper, VA 22701. www.aswb.org. ASWB Approval Period: 4/15/09 – 4/15/12. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval. The following recognize the ASWB program: AL, AK, AZ, DC, DE, GA, ID, IN, IA, KY, MA, MD, MI, MO, MS, MT, NM, NC, ND, NJ, OK, OR, PA (PA requires that courses be at least 2 credits), RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, VI, VT, WA, WI, and WY.
  • PsychoEducational Resources, Inc. (PER) is an approved provider of the California Board of Behavior Sciences (PCE 203). This program meets the qualifications for CE credit for MFCCs and LCSWs as required by the CA BBS.
  • PER is also an approved provider with a variety of individual state social work, counseling, and marriage and family therapy boards which include: the Florida Board of Licensed Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling (CE Provider Tracking #50-1657, Board Provider #351, exp. 03/31/11), the Illinois Social Work Board (159-000505), the Iowa Board of Social Work (#153), the Maryland State Board of Social Work, the Ohio Counselor (RCX-129413), Social Worker (RSX-019601) and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, the Texas Board of Social Work (CS 1596), and the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists (Provider #130).
  • This program meets the criteria of an approved continuing education program for social work in Arkansas.
  • To receive the 20 CE credits, Social Workers must have a post-test score of at least 80%.

Professional Counselors

  • PER is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and a co-sponsor of this program. PER may award NBCC approved clock hours for programs that meet NBCC requirements (Approval # 5536). The following state counseling boards will accept the NBCC providership: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CT, DC, DE, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MS, MT, NC, ND, NH, NJ, NM, OK, OR, RI, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, and WY.
  • PER is a provider of continuing education with the South Carolina Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Psycho-Educational Specialists (#98). Please note that the Board will only accept CE hours for renewal purposes that are related to the professional license that is being renewed and hours that are related to the educational requirements or subject matter that is required for the licensure.
  • To receive the 20 CE credits, Professional Counselors must have a post-test score of at least 80%.

Marriage and Family Therapists

  • PER is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) and a co-sponsor of this program. PER may award NBCC approved clock hours for programs that meet NBCC requirements (Approval # 5536). The following state marriage and family therapist boards will accept the NBCC providership: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CT, FL, IA, ID, IN, KS, MD, ME, MT, NE, NJ, NM, OK, OR, RI, SD, TN, UT, VA, WA, and WY.

Chemical Dependency Counselors

  • PER is approved as a continuing education provider by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) Provider #374 (Exp. September 30, 2011). The individual sessions in this program covers the following counselor skill groups: clinical assessment, ongoing treatment planning, and counseling services.
  • To receive the 20 CE credits, Chemical Dependency Counselor must have a post-test score of at least 80%.


The table below show which states' licenses will acept these CEs. Please note that your licensing board is the ultimate authority and you should check with your state board or certifying organization to find out if homestudy programs are accepted as part of your continuing education requirement for license renewal or re-certification.

Notes:

CT SW – No Homestudy or Internet CEs allowed.

DE MFT – DE does not have MFTs.

GA MFT - Must be pre-approved and only 5 can be homestudy.

ID Counselors – Accepts NBCC providership.

IL MFT – We are approved provider but they do not allow CEs to be earned through homestudy or online courses.

KY MFT – must be pre-approved.

LA SW – will accept out APA or NBCC providership but limits online/homestudy CEs to 10 per cycle.

LA MFT – There are no MFTs.

ME SW – will allow homestudy/online but limit to 10 credits.

MN SW, Counselor and MFT – There are no Counselors in MN and both the SW and MFT board require pre-approval.

MS MFT – Must be pre-approved and only allow 5 per cycle in distance learning.

NV SW, Counselor and MFT – There are no Counselors in NV and both the SW and MFT board require pre-approval.

NH SW & MFT – Social work board will accept our APA or NBCC providership. The MFT board accepts the NBCC providership.

NY Counselors – Not required to obtain CEs.

NC MFT – does not allow homestudy.

ND MFT – No MFTs.

PA Counselors – No CE Mandates.

SC Counselors – does not allow homestudy.

SD SW – Will accept ASWB but does not allow homestudy.

VT MFT – Pre-approved programs only and does not allow homestudy.

WV SW & MFTs – must be pre-approved by the board and there are not MFTs.

WI MFTs – No CE Mandates.



CE Credits for Individual Modules

R. Cassidy Seminars offers CE credits for self-designed, self-study programs for Master's level therapists. RCS can provide 1 CE for 50 slide-show minutes and 1 CE for 30 study-guide page for those seeking CE credit for individual DNMS Home Study Course modules.
