The DNMS has evolved in significant ways since the first workshop was offered in 2002. Different variations of the model have been taught over the years. The last two workshops - in Baltimore and Denver in 2006 - came the closest to conveying the latest refinements to the model. Many of the refinements are described in the 2006 edition of the DNMS book, but some are not. If you have studied the DNMS in the past, but cannot answer the following questions you could greatly benefit from the 2008 Home Study Course.
- How does the latest research into the actions of mirror neurons factor into the DNMS model?
- How does embodied simulation differ from standard simulation?
- What is the difference between an attachment wound and a trauma wound?
- What is the most important (emotional) developmental need?
- Why is it not ideal for a client to establish a Nurturing Adult Self that looks like her loving Aunt Sally?
- What is a Provisional Resource?
- What is the difference between a simple maladaptive introject and an oppressive maladaptive introject?
- What is the difference between a controlling reactive part and a controlling reactive mimic?
- What is the DNMS Switching the Dominance Protocol?
- What is an Enmeshment Reversal?
- What is the DNMS Attachment Needs Ladder questionnaire?
- What is the DNMS Conference Room Protocol?
- What are the four indicators that, at the end of the Needs Meeting Protocol, a wounded child part is totally unstuck?
- Does it make a difference if a wounded child part in the Healing Circle feels the Resources meeting her needs in the past or in the present?
- Why is it more important to meet the needs of maladaptive introjects than it is to meet the needs of reactive parts?
- What are the two major types of processing blocks?
